As the lead designer, I was involved from the project’s inception in shaping the master plan, which included luxury villas for purchase, hotel accommodations for guests, a stand-alone central lobby, restaurants, a pool bar, spa, water features, landscaped gardens, and lighting. Sustainability was at the heart of every design choice. I prioritized local materials and building techniques to minimize environmental impact, such as concealing large cisterns beneath the main buildings, heating water with solar energy, and selecting native flora to reduce water consumption.
During construction, I spent extensive time on-site, overseeing the process and addressing the unique challenges of building in a foreign country. I developed creative solutions to various issues, from collaborating with local artisans to source vernacular materials, to managing supply chain disruptions effectively.
