River Park is a multi-phased, 850,000 SF mixed-use development focused on life-science research and retail, with open spaces designed to integrate into the surrounding community.
As the Project Manager and Designer for the first parcel, which set the tone for future phases, I worked closely with the owner to bring his vision to life. The design pays homage to the Connecticut River and the area’s historic character, drawing inspiration from a recently demolished New England trestle bridge. This industrial aesthetic features locally sourced wood planks, granite from nearby quarries, exposed steel trusses, and custom metal panels.
Cost control was a key priority. I implemented various cost management strategies to prevent overruns and reduce risk, ensuring the project progressed through Construction Documents with enough detail to eliminate design contingency, and ultimately securing a final cost within the owner’s desired range.
